We are a young couple in our late-twenties who recently adopted a Newfie puppy. Our life was completely turned upside when she came, being that it was our first dog together, and we thought it would be fun to share the experiences with our friends, family and others whoare thinking about adding a Newf to their family as well as those who already know about the antics of these wonderful Gentle Giants.

This blog was created by Lifting Lives Foundation so that we can pass on valuable knowledge that we learn while we set up our nonprofit organization and so that we can inform the public about current and future developments with the organization. At the moment, the blog focuses a lot on resources and the processes we are going through but we also intend to discuss the works we are doing once things get going.

We are a young couple in our late 20's. He's German and she's American although he grew up in the US so we're both basically expats here. We've just bought our first house together which is an old timber-frame ("fachwerk") farm built in 1834. We're going to be doing some rather major renovations and a lot of DIY projects so we thought it would be fun to start a blog so we can share the adventures with our friends, family and anyone else who's interested.

Lifted Magazine has purchased a Land Rover Defender 110 to use on major road trips through Europe and beyond. So this blog will be used to talk about the truck, any small road trips or adventures we take in it and our more major trips as well like our trip in 2006 to Italy.

We're setting a challenge for ourselves: Provide enough produce in our own back yard to supply the majority of our fruit and veggie needs. If we can't grow it, we want to buy it within 10 km of our home. The fun part is we just bought our first home (a farmhouse built in 1834) which needs some TLC, we don’t know much about gardening and we want to do as much as we can around here with our own two hands. We've got a lot of learning to do and a lot of work...this should be interesting ;)
