Consumer Science
http://www.consumerscience.org
We take a broad view on what consumer science actually is. The random consumer behavior textbook from the shelf defines consumer behavior as "the dynamic interaction of affect and cognition, behavior, and the environment by which human beings conduct the exchange aspect of their lives". That is pretty broad. It is about buying, consuming, disposing, en being influenced (or not) by marketing actions. The research in our group hits on all these themes in one way or another, but we like to see things even more broadly. We are interested - and venture occasionally - into economic psychology, behavioral economics, neuroeconomics, evolutionary psychology, social psychology, ... As long as it is interesting, and adds something to our understanding of what the intriguing species called 'consumers' do. In CONSUMER SCIENCE we want to present our own research and ideas, and show the world what we find interesting. Whoever picks it up whererever, please comment, critique en spread. Praise is welcome as well. It is also the 'public peephole into the collective consiousness of our research group'. Like all academics, we flood each other's mailboxes with must-read references and hey-this-is interesting-weblinks. Here we can share these with everybody else as well.
