Our friends call us hippies but I think the only tie dyed item of clothing we have is a kids t-shirt we were given as a present. We recycle as much as we can, my wife both knits as well as dyes her own wool and we try and get a crop of home grown vegetables in every year even when we don’t have a garden. One of our dreams is to be self sufficient and another is to move to the countryside into a nice house with a bit of land and start up a small holding. Initially the plan for the move was to a different country but I’m gradually bringing my wife around to the idea of staying within Scotland. It’s too nice a country and the population is that small that once you leave the central belt you sometimes have to travel miles to find a neighbour! This blog will hopefully chart how we got from A to B with all the troubles in between.

Many people ask me why I keep a blog and why do I keep it public. Well it comes down to the age old why not? Fair enough my life isn’t as interesting as some and I don’t really have an angle or subject that some blogs stick to. It is a a place for me to write down my thoughts and grumbles but mostly its a place for me to write down what I’ve done and accomplished as I’m getting on a bit an with 3 kids running around my feet my memory aint what it used to be. I’m a struggling amatuer photographer so expect to see many posts where I blow of steam at being unable to understand the technical side of photography and where I post up many of my photos under the delusion that they are actually not that bad. Have a look around and you’ll soon see what I get up to and what im interested in. Leave some comments if you like and if you nice enough I might even find the time to reply!.
