Here at Blog Flux we get a lot of blog submissions. Quite a few are rejected, and the most common complaint is - "how is this not a blog?". The point of this page is to help define what we think is a blog, and to just even provide a general blog definition.

The biggest defining factor that we believe makes a site is a blog is that information is presented based on date - the newest material is available at the top of the blog. Categories may or may not be present - the index page of that section must be presented based on date.We also believe that blogs are not the same as a community forum - whereas in a forum anyone may be able to start a new post/entry, on a blog, only a select few can.By our definition, sites that are thinly veined as 'blogs' whilst in fact only attempting to sell products/services do not count as blogs.

Many people (incorrectly) believe that weblogs are just online diaries or journals - while this may be true in many cases, blogs are a powerful tool that one can utilise to get his or her opinion heard by others.

Blogs are also referred to as weblogs and web logs.
